EWU Eagle Eye Preview Links Eastern Eagles @ Southern Methodist Mustangs

Good morning Eagle fans!  The Eagles are in Dallas, TX tonight and will face off with the currently 22 ranked SMU Mustangs.  I won't be able to watch or listen to the game tonight as I have volunteer work with Naval Operation Support Center Austin, TX Chief Petty Officer's Mess.

That won't prevent me from sharing these quick links to get you a preview of tonight's match up.

The best place to start is goeags.com, where they point out the Eagles are off to their best start in 17 seasons.

CBSSports.com offers their perspective as SMU seeks to avoid a 3 game losing streak.

collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com, offers five thoughts on SMU, including their hope to limit Tyler Harvey and come away with a win.

www.islandpacket.com, predicts an ornery SMU squad to win tonight.

SMU will look to pound things inside with 6'10" Senior Center Cannen Cunningham (#15) and 6'8" Sophomore Forward Ben Moore (#0).  They lead the Mustangs in scoring with 10 ppg and 16.3 ppg respectively.  SMU averages 39 rebounds per game to Eastern's 38, Eastern is averaging 18 assists to SMU's 16.

The Eagles have averaged 9 blocks and 7 steals, while the Mustangs have averaged 5 blocks and 5 steals.  Eastern's stats could be inflated by inferior competition while SMU has played superior teams on the road thus far.

In order to get the win tonight, Eastern will need big time contributions from their front court including Frederik Jorg, Venky Jois and "OG" Miljkovic.  The Eagles will need to be efficient shooting the ball from the perimeter to force SMU to try and keep pace.  The Eagles rarely lose when shooting 50% or better from the field and 40% or better from beyond the arc.

Tip off is at  4 p.m. PT
