Eastern Washington Head Coach Jim Hayford talked about the Eagles needing to develop a post presence in order to be able to create offensive balance and force teams to defend the entire half court.  He said that in the final 20-25% of their games this season they accomplished that mission and he credited it to Laron Griffin.

Griffin had an up and down season marked by 13 fouls outs and 11 other games with 4 fouls.  He also gave the Eagles four double-doubles including the final three games of the year.  Over the final 5 games of the season as the Eagles battled for a post season berth, the chance to host a home game and of course to advance in the tournament, Laron averaged 16 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while playing 32.5 minutes a contest and finally breaking his long streak of games fouling out.

Laron’s presence in the post will truly be missed next year and it will be a big challenge for the Eagles to replace it next season.  And now the 2011-2012 season highlights of Laron Griffin:
