Good Morning Eagle Fans! Today might be a struggle to suffer through the waiting game before tonight's Big Sky Conference Semi-Final match-up between the EWU Eagles and the Montana Grizzlies. But fear not, we've got some Eagle news from around the web to help you make it through.

Lets start off with Jim Allen, of the Spokesman Review, who offers a preview of tonight's match-up, I was hoping for Montana,” said Eastern Washington freshman guard Parker Kelly, who will get his wish in tonight’s Big Sky Conference men’s basketball semifinal game.

Lots more following the break:

Is it time for Kevin Winford (#23)
to step for the Eagles?

Next let's head over to grizbasketball.com where Bob Messeroll of the Missoulian offers us some great posts including a Q&A with Eagles Head Coach Jim Hayford, “You have to mix it around. We did some things good and some things bad in the game in Spokane, but one of the things we did well was [Jeffrey Forbes] his job on Will Cherry. I think Cherry had one basket.” Also a Q&A with Grizzlies Head Coach Wayne Tinkle, I think so. Last week, Friday was one practice where we were a little spacey and I think it was the eagerness to find out who we were going to play.” Bob also offers some recent history on the Big Sky Conference Tournament, “Regular-season champs captured seven of the 10 tournaments from 1995 through 2004. Since then, however, the host school has claimed just three of the seven tournaments, bowing out twice in the semifinals and twice in the championship game.” Finally, he also gives us a glimpse of where Montana stacks up against other Mid Major programs around the country.

The Eagles need Collin Chiverton (#24)
to come back strong tonight

Next head over to ewureview.com and check out the StatSheet Big Sky Player of the Week, University of Montana Guard Will Cherry. Also available there is the statistical preview of tonight's match-up.

Jon at bigskybball.com offers three keys for each team to win in the Semi-Final round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament. “To beat an elite team like Montana, [the Eagles] need [Chiverton] to be the guy that was the top newcomer in the Big Sky, and not the one that has scored 12 points in their last four games.”

EWU Women Brianne Ryan
and Chene Cooper

Goeags.com offers this article on the Eagle women earning recognition on the women's all conference teams, “We are really excited about Brianne [Ryan] winning MVP of the league," said EWU head coach Wendy Schuller. "This is our second MVP in three years, which really shows what we are as a program and how we develop players." They also offer this preview of tonight's match-up, “I just have a sense of relief,” said Hayford of advancing to the semifinals. “It is a great foundational year for our program and we are really pleased with it.”

Finally, don't forget to cast your vote for EWU Eagle Eye Player of the Week, Jeffrey Forbes is the leading vote getter so far, but I'd love to read and share your thoughts so keep the comments / votes coming. Also check out our preview of tonight's Semi-Final Showdown.
