EWU Eagle Eye Links for Monday Morning

Good Morning Eagles Fans!  Its tournament week, as in Big Sky Conference Tournament, the same tournament that your Eastern Washington Eagles are 1-0 in, and have advanced to the Semi Final round for the first time in 6 years.  Tuesday night the Eagles will take on regular season champions the Montana Grizzlies in Missoula.

Now that you’ve caught your breath let’s take a tour of the internet after the jump:

Jon at bigskybball.com offers his recap of the Eagles win, the Portland State win including his first glimpse look at the Semi-Final round.  He also offers a look at the four Big Sky Conference 1st team all conference guards leading their teams into the Semi-Finals.

Vince Grippi of the Spokesman Review Sportlink blog offers his links for Saturday’s action

Check out 700espn.wordpress.com for the highlights of Dennis Patchin's call and his post game interview with Coach Hayford

goeags.com has their recap of Saturday’s game up, “We played one of our finest offensive games of the year,” said Hayford. “We shot really good percentages and we had a good mix of going inside and outside. Jeff Forbes stepped up and had a great night -- he is a winning player. Offensively he scored 21 points, but he also was the guy guarding McGowen, who got off 28 shots. People might look at that and say McGowen had 28 points, but I look at that and say Forbes held him to 30 percent field goal shooting (9-of-28 for 32 percent).’’  They also have a glimpse at Tuesday’s match up, with more from Coach Hayford on Saturday’s win, “Down six in the second half is nothing for us,” said Hayford, whose team was behind 61-55 with 9:02 left. “Our guys don’t look at the scoreboard until there’s about three minutes to go.”

Finally be sure to check out ewueagleeye.com where we’ve posted our recap of the victory over Idaho State as well as our candidates for EWU Eagle Eye Player of the Week.

That’s all I’ve got for now, but come back tonight for a preview of Tuesday’s Semi-Final match up with Montana.
